Call Before You Dig

Gopher State One-Call

Whether planting a tree, adding a fence, or building a new addition, state law requires you to call Gopher State One-Call at least 48 hours (excluding weekends, holidays and emergencies) before digging. Digging without knowing the approximate location of underground utilities increases the likelihood of an accident that can cause serious injuries, service disruptions and repair costs.

Common Ground Alliance

Common Ground Alliance (CGA), an organization dedicated to protecting underground utility lines and the safety of people who dig near them, reports that there are more than 100 billion feet of underground utilities in the United States.

Gopher State checks with public utilities to see whether any of their lines pose a hazard to where you want to dig. Call 811 or 651-454-0002 or visit the Gopher State One Call website to request utility line locator service.
