Students, why is voting important to our democracy? Enter the Roseville Human Rights essay contest and you could win a prize. The essay contest is open to all sixth, seventh and eighth graders.
To be eligible to participate students, including home-schooled students, must live in Roseville or attend a school in the Roseville Area School (RAS) District.
Students write an essay on a specific topic. This year’s topic is:
- We have the right to vote in the USA. But sadly less than 60 percent of the American people participate in voting. Why do you think voting is an important freedom and what are your suggestions or ideas to increase voter participation in the USA?
The Roseville Human Rights Commission sponsors the annual contest. Contest rules are distributed to all public and private schools within the RAS District. Contact your principal or teacher for information. Homeschooled students are encouraged to participate. Deadline to submit an essay is February 1, 2016.
Contest rules and additional information is available at Roseville Human Rights Commission webpage. Last year’s winning essays are also posted there. Contact Kari Collin at 651-792-7023 or kari.collins@cityofroseville.com if you have additional questions.
