Plans include adding an office building and outdoor research plots. Calyxt currently has 24 employees and anticipates adding approximately 70 new, skilled employees over the next several years.

The City Council has approved allocating Hazardous Substances Subdistrict funds for to assist Calyxt, Inc. to expand in Roseville. The City allocated up to $400,000 to be used to clean up contamination on the site of the proposed Calyxt headquarters on Mount Ridge Road. The company has also received funds from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Job Creation Fund Program.

The City’s brownfields consultant said that soils in the area appear to be low level contaminated soils. They are working with Calyxt’s environmental consultant to finalize details for the cleanup. Under the negotiated agreement the City will not pay anything to Calyxt until the business demonstrates that the work has been completed and the contractor has been paid.

Calyxt is relocating to Roseville from New Brighton. Part of the reason they chose to move to Roseville was because they needed a large enough area to establish outdoor research plots.
