Local businesses are once again receiving calls from an organization that implies it is raising funds for the Roseville Fire Department. However, the Roseville Fire Department does not solicit funds.
The Fire Safety Magnet Company says it is selling magnets to support the Fire Department. Beware, Roseville is not involved with this arrangement and is not receiving support from them.
When reviewing Fire Safety Magnet Company’s website, it states that fire departments “benefit by providing critical safety information to the community.” We did a little research and found that the business is not Better Business Bureau accredited, and has “D” rating by the BBB.
The City knows of at least two businesses that have been scammed this year. They were promised magnets and have not received them. The businesses contacted the Fire Department asking when they would receive the magnets.
Please be alert to the possibility of fraud. If you get a call from someone asking for donations, be cautious. We encourage you to collect information about the organization and then confirm that the information that they are telling you is true. If you believe you have been a victim of a scam, report it to the police. In Roseville call 651-767-0640.
