These trees will be planted in boulevards and right-of-ways this spring.

Trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. They will be approximately two inches in diameter and will be planted at no cost to the homeowner.

Homeowners will not get to choose the species of trees. Instead, the city will select the appropriate native tree species based on the tree distribution plan that was established in 2012. This makes sure that an appropriate variety of tree species are planted in neighborhoods.

Homeowners will be asked to commit to watering the trees, as needed, until they are firmly established. This is generally a two-year commitment. Notify Twaroski by March 16 to add your name to the list of those requesting a tree.

The DNR Grant is to be used to plant shade trees on public land to replace trees lost to forest pests, disease, or storms, to establish a more diverse and resilient community forest, and to remove and replace ash trees.
