Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia can be a challenge in familiar surroundings. But are there strategies for successfully navigating family gatherings and travel? Find out Thursday at the Roseville Library.
The Roseville Alzheimer’s & Dementia Community Action Team (Rsvl A/D) continues its popular Dementia: Caring & Coping speaker series this week with a special discussion focusing on family gatherings and travel on June 8 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
A panel of professionals and families dealing with dementia will discuss how holiday gatherings, family celebrations, outings, and travel change with dementia. The presentation will include insights and tips to reduce stress, increase safety and improve engagement to create remarkable moments.
Attendees will receive a free Document Travel Bag, which contains copies of travel documents including a sample travel itinerary, emergency travel medical form with instructions for completion, a trip planner, emergency contact cards for the individual with dementia and the care partner, tips for dementia travel – local and extended, and the Ramsey County Library Memory Minder Kits brochure.
These events are developed by the Roseville’s Alzheimer’s & Dementia Community Action Team (Rsvl A/D), including Katharine Tondra, St. Anthony Park Area Seniors.
