We’ll start the morning with a presentation about a partnership between the City of Roseville and Capitol Region Watershed District (CRWD) that led to building an innovative water protection project in the park, followed by a hands-on volunteer project to pull Garlic Mustard.

Last November, the city and CRWD installed a water protection system to protect Lake McCarrons by capturing pollution from storm water. CRWD staff will explain the stormwater reuse system and how it collects, filters and reuses runoff to irrigate the ballfields while protecting nearby Lake McCarrons.  

Following their presentation, we’ll ask volunteers to help pull Garlic Mustard in the park. Garlic Mustard is an invasive species that crowds out native plants, tree seedlings and woodland plants. It is an aggressive plant that can quickly take over an area. Fortunately garlic mustard can be managed by pulling plants and preventing it from producing seeds.
