Beginning August 18, Roseville Police will join law enforcement agencies across Minnesota in a Towards Zero Death (TZD) effort to reduce the number of injuries and deaths in traffic accidents.
The TZD effort reminds motorists to play it safe – buckle up, drive sober, put away the cell phone and drive at safe speeds.
Police officers around the state will work extra hours through the Labor Day weekend to target anyone who is speeding or driving while intoxicated or driving while distracted. They will also be on the lookout for anyone not using seat belts or car seats.
TZD is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The goal is not to hand out tickets, but rather to raise awareness about safe driving practices and to reduce traffic deaths and serious injuries through safer driving.
