Roseville Police are partnering with Tubman Family Services for the annual Shop with a Cop event on Wednesday, December 6. Officers will take more than a dozen children on a holiday shopping spree at Target.
The weeks leading up to the season of gift giving can be a fun-filled time of year. But for some families it can also be a time of stress. RPD works with with Tubman Family Services to identify families who have worked with a Roseville family violence detective or have other family needs. The selected families are often victims of violence.
Shop with a Cop aims to build trust between the families and the Police Department. During Shop with a Cop, each child is paired with an officer and is given an allowance to spend on family gifts for the holidays. Once the shopping is completed, the officers, children, and parents will be joined by other community volunteers to help wrap the gifts while enjoying a pizza party. Each family is sent home with an additional gift card to purchase food items for the holidays.
This annual event is funded, in part, through donations from Target Corporation, the Roseville Police Foundation, and private individuals. If you would like to make a donation, please send a check to Roseville Police at 2660 Civic Center Drive, Roseville, MN 55113. Funds will be used to support Shop with a Cop and other programs that benefit at-risk youth.
