School opening is around the corner, so it’s a good time to review the rules of the road. Roseville Police remind you to slow down, be alert and take extra caution in school zones.
Watch for kids (and adults) walking or riding and look for crossing guards, safety patrols and school buses.
It is illegal for vehicles driving in either directions to pass a school bus that has its red lights flashing or its stop arm extended. The speed limit on most city streets is posted. If it is not posted the speed limit is 30 mph.
Each year thousands of children are struck by motor vehicles. It’s a good idea to walk the school route with your children before school opens and review safety rules, including:
• Look both ways before crossing a street or alley.
• Only cross at street corners.
• Do not enter a street from between parked cars.
• Use designated school crossings whenever possible.
