Stay safe. Replace the batteries in your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide (CO) detector once a year. The Roseville Fire Department suggests changing batteries every year when moving clocks back.
This year, Daylight Saving Time ends on November 4.
In addition to replacing batteries annually, smoke alarms and CO detectors should be replaced at least once every 10 years.
According to the State Fire Marshall, residential fires account for more than 80 percent of all fire deaths in Minnesota. Two-thirds of fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarm or a smoke alarm that does not work.
