Join us at Harriet Alexander Nature Center (HANC) on Saturday, September 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as HANC, together with event partners Pow Wow Grounds Café and Gibbs Farm, celebrates the Wild Rice Festival.
The Wild Rice Festival is a free, family-friendly celebration of wild rice, Native American cultures and Minnesota’s harvest season.
Music, storytelling and dance performances, traditional wild ricing, honey extraction, apple cider press demonstrations and Native American crafts will be offered throughout the day.
The Native American dance group, Wakinyan Luta Dance Society, will perform, and demonstrations of the Native American game of lacrosse will be offered.
Concessions, including Native American offerings such as fry bread by Pow Wow Grounds Café and JonesNYourBonesBBQ will be available for purchase.
Proceeds of this fundraising event support the nature center and its mission of environmental education and outdoor recreation.
Thanks to Half Price Books, Skyline Electric, Minnesota Grown, friends and family of Gene Vogl and festival devotee Ken Malmstedt. Thanks also to the many volunteers who make this event possible. Visit WildRiceFestival.org or call 651-765-HANC (4262) to learn more.
