[ARCHIVED] Sign up for the Police Citizen's Academy

The police department is accepting applications for its 2010 Police Citizens' Academy. Learn what happens if you call 9-1-1, what kind of training K-9 officers go through, how to prevent identity theft and more.

Other topics include basic police work such as traffic stops, accident reconstruction, hostage negotiations and other police tactics. Classes meet from 6:00 to 9:30 pm on Wednesday evenings from March 3 to April 21.

Participants attend presentations, tour facilities and role-play certain situations. Classes are free. Participants must be 18 years or older.

If you are interested in attending the Academy, contact Community Relations Coordinator Sarah Mahmud.
