Filing for City Council Begins May 19

Filing for Office

Two Roseville City Council seats will be up for election this year. Filing for office will be open from May 19 until June 2. A candidate is required to pay a $5 filing fee or file a nominating petition.

Qualifications to run for office include:

  • Eligible voter in the City of Roseville;
  • 21 years of age or older upon assuming office; and
  • Resident of the city for at least 30 days before general election.

Contact Ramsey County at 651-266-2171 or elections@co.ramsey.mn.us if you have questions.

Due to COVID-19, Ramsey County Elections asks candidates to file affidavits of candidacy as early as possible. Candidates for offices in Roseville have several options to file. Candidates may file at Ramsey County or with the City of Roseville.

Mail: An affidavit of candidacy must be notarized by an authorized notary. For locations and hours of notary services throughout the county, visit rcelections.org. Ramsey County will confirm that it has received your affidavit and provide a receipt by email or post. Mail affidavits to Ramsey County Elections, PO Box 64098, Saint Paul, MN 55164.

Candidates may also mail a notarized affidavit of candidacy to the City Roseville or drop it at the drop box at Roseville City Hall, 2660 Civic Center Drive. Notarized affidavits must be received by 5:00 p.m. on June 2.

Appointment at Ramsey County Elections: Schedule a 15-20 minute appointment with filing staff and follow social distancing guidelines and recommendations. Please visit rcelections.org for details prior to filing in person and call 651-266-2171 to schedule an appointment.

Drop-in visit at Ramsey County Elections Office: One candidate will be queued to file at a time, per social distancing guidelines. Candidates may need to wait in a queue until staff is available. File in person at Ramsey County Elections, 90 Plato Blvd. West, Saint Paul.

Because Roseville City Hall is temporarily closed to the public, drop-in visits are not available. Please check the City of Roseville website at www.cityofroseville.com or call 651-792-7023 for updates.
