[ARCHIVED] Council, Commissions to Resume In-Person Meetings

City Hall Front Angle

After more than a year of holding city meetings online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Roseville City Council, as well as city advisory commissions and boards, will return to in-person meetings at City Hall in July.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz declared a state of emergency due to the pandemic in the spring of 2020, which permitted the City Council, boards and commission to meet virtually. The emergency declaration period will expire as of July 1 after the Minnesota House and Senate voted this week to end the Governor’s emergency powers.

Minnesota’s open meeting laws require meetings held by state and local governmental bodies be conducted in a manner such that the public may attend and observe meetings.

Though meetings will resume being held in person at City Hall, due to the popularity of having a virtual option for residents to provide public comment city officials have decided that meetings will be conducted as hybrid events for the public. As such, meeting will be accessible to the public both in person and online via the city’s ZOOM webinar platform for the foreseeable future.

Members of the public wishing to make public comment but who are unable to attend a City of Roseville meeting in person may register to attend a meeting online by visiting www.cityofroseville.com/attendmeeting.

To submit a public comment before a meeting, members of the public may email the city council at city.council@cityofroseville.com. Individuals may also submit comment by visiting www.cityofroseville.com/councilfeedback and submitting a City Council Contact Form. To provide online comment to an advisory commission meeting, visit www.cityofroseville.com/commissions.

Meetings will continue to be available online at www.cityofroseville.com/webstreaming for both live and on-demand viewing. City Council and Commission meetings are also aired live on Comcast Channel 16 to Roseville cable subscribers.
