[ARCHIVED] Mandatory Watering Restrictions Effective 8/17/21

SPRWS drought response

Due to ongoing drought conditions, communities that receive water from St. Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS), including Roseville, are restricted to odd/even watering days and on either day restricted to watering between the hours of 12pm-6pm.

As of Tuesday, August 17th, communities that receive water from St. Paul Regional Water Service (SPRWS) are restricted to odd/even watering, meaning that odd number addresses draw water for outdoor use when necessary only on odd-numbered calendar days, and those with even numbered addresses may draw water for outdoor use only on even- numbered calendar days. The City of Roseville is a wholesale water customer of SPRWS.

If odd/even mandatory restrictions do not result in adequate demand reduction in water use, outdoor water use will be further restricted to one day per week.

In either of the above described mandated schedules, customers may not draw water for outdoor use between the hours of 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm CDT to prevent evaporation.

If flow of the Mississippi River at Brooklyn Center, MN reaches the Emergency Phase as defined in the State of Minnesota’s Statewide Drought Plan, a total ban of outdoor water use will be implemented.

Exception will be granted for vegetable gardens, commercial nurseries, community gardens, trees, and the watering of new sod or seed up to one month after installation, but only between the hours of 6:00 pm and 12:00 pm CDT.

The City of Roseville will start issuing warnings to water customers violating the restriction. If violations continue after the warning, the violating customer is subject to a $100 fine. If continued violations occur the City may shut off the water service to the violating property.

Enforcement of non-compliance penalties will begin Friday, August 20, 2021. Fines for non-compliance will be applied to the customer’s quarterly water bill.
