[ARCHIVED] Council approves new precinct maps

Redistricting - FINAL 11 Precinct Option (Mayor Plan)

As part of the state-wide redistricting done by the State of Minnesota every ten years, the City established new precinct boundaries and polling places at its March 21 City Council meeting.

The revised precinct map adds one more precinct to the City of Roseville.

Staff worked with Ramsey County to identify polling locations for each of the 11 precincts in accordance with the guidelines set up by the state to ensure citizens have equitable access to accessible polling locations.

We are trying to ensure that people have a positive experience when they go out to cast their vote, says Assistant City Manager, Rebecca Olson. “We want to make sure people are able to get to polling locations, and that those polling places are accessible and have adequate parking.

Roseville has a large absentee voter turnout, so some of the districts were able to handle larger populations. Once the Secretary of State’s office approves these boundaries, they go back to Ramsey County to create their new precinct maps. Be sure to look at your mail in the coming months! Ramsey County will be mailing postcards to all residents, and you should receive this information before the August 9th primary.

Many of the previous precinct boundaries have shifted,” say Olson. “It’s so important to look at your address at the Secretary of State website to find out if your polling place has changed.

The State will have that all new polling location information available on their website by mid-May, 2022.
