The Roseville Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a University of Northwestern residence hall and extinguished a kitchenette blaze on Tuesday, February 7.
No injuries were reported, but a resident room in the building sustained fire and smoke damage. An adjacent hallway also sustained minor smoke damage.
Firefighters were dispatched at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday to the residence hall on Eagle Drive. Upon arrival, the building alarm was sounding and students and staff had already exited the building.
Crews searched the building and discovered a fire burning atop a kitchenette on the third floor. Firefighters doused the blaze with water and ventilated the unit, removing smoke. The fire was contained to the one unit.
Building occupants were allowed back in around 11:15 p.m. A fire investigator interviewed the unit occupant. The fire remains under investigation.
Roseville Fire was assisted by Lake Johanna Fire, Little Canada Fire, Saint Anthony Fire, Roseville Police, Ramsey County Sheriff and Allina Medical Transportation.
University of Northwestern is a private university located in northern Roseville with an enrollment of nearly 3,500 students.
