The Roseville City Council met in closed session Wednesday evening in accordance with statutorily permitted exceptions to the Minnesota Open Meeting law.
During the meeting, the City Council received confidential information protected by attorney-client privilege from the City Attorney about pending litigation involving Victor Yair Hernandez-Rivera v. Roseville Police Officers Justin Gunderson, Erin Reski, Kyle Eckert, and Grant Dattilo, in their individual and official capacities.
Though not named as a party of the suit, the City is cooperating with the legal process. The City believes that the Federal Judicial System, where the suit will be heard, will provide the most independent and unbiased review of the facts. The City will complete its internal investigation related to personnel matters following the conclusion of the legal process.
The legal process is still in the early stages and includes many steps. The City expects to receive a schedule from the Court soon and will provide residents with additional updates as public information is available.
