The UASI grant program provides support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist attack and located within a UASI-eligible Urban Area. It also serves to promote coordination and collaboration in emergency preparedness activities among public and private community representatives, as well as state and local government agencies.

“The Fire Department is very excited about receiving this grant,” said Fire Chief Timothy O’Neill. “In 2013 the city purchased a flammable liquids trailer to better handle this type of emergency anywhere in the city. This training will ensure that all of our firefighters will have the skills and confidence to fight such a fire,” said O’Neill.

Roseville has a significant amount of storage, fill, pipeline, and transport of flammable liquids daily within the city. This grant money will be used to support flammable liquid response training and to bolster the department’s capabilities for response.

The Fire Department will include partner and mutual-aid agencies in a training exercise later this summer. In addition to the exercise, the department will purchase additional quality foam product to increase its ability to handle all types of flammable liquid emergencies.
