[ARCHIVED] Travel the World and Never Leave Roseville

Dancer.jpg

Join us on Sundays at the Frank Rog Amphitheater and go on a free world adventure. We’re making cultural connections around the world through music, dance, theater, storytelling, clothing, and cuisine.

On July 19, we welcome Iny Asian Dance Theater for “Longing for Qeej,” a Hmong dance drama. Iny Asian Dance Theater creates a remix of classical and popular Asian music and songs. The dances are mixtures of Bollywood, Chinese, Hmong, Thai, and other Asian origins. Their performance starts at 5:30 until 8:00 p.m.

On July 26, we’re ready for European Romance. The Quartetto Rosso will perform Italian/Neapolitan music beginning at 4:00 p.m. Robert Everest and Dan Newton will combine forces to play a mix of European music at 5:30. There will be dance instruction at 6:00 and Dan Newton’s Café Accordion Orchestra will play French musette music at 6:30 p.m.

On August 2, it’s time for good ole’ American Bluegrass music. We start at 2:30 p.m. with a bluegrass jam. Bring your instruments and join the crowd. Monroe Crossing will play two sets of bluegrass music, at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. At 5:30 p.m. Pride of the Prairie will play old time music and the floor will be open for clogging.

On August 9, the West African Duniya Drum and Dance Troupe will perform beginning at 6:00 p.m. and members of the audience will get a chance to show off their drumming and dancing skills at 7:00 p.m.

On August 16, we’ll celebrate Ukrainian Independence Day. We’ll share music, dance and Ukrainian folklore. Meet us at 4:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Food trucks with a variety of food options will be available at the free performances. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets or grab a park bench and enjoy these spectacular events as part of the Global Adventure Series of free cultural events at the Frank Rog Amphitheatre, Roseville Central Park, 2540 Lexington Ave. N., Roseville, MN 55113.

Performances are presented by Johnston Martineau, Attorneys at Law, with additional funding provided in part by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. The full schedule of performances is available at www.CityofRoseville.com/LiveRog or call 651-792-7006.
